Sting
When Maradiage arrived at the sting house, the decoy posing as the aunt asked him to wipe the snow off his boots, but due to his trouble understanding English, he walked in without doing so. After Chris Hansen walked out, Maradiage asked if he was in trouble and whether there was a problem. Chris replied, "Grande problema." Maradiage recognized why he would be in trouble without Chris needing to ask.
Maradiage claimed that he did not want to have sex with the minor girl. According to him, he only went into the house after seeing the adult decoy posing as the aunt. He claimed that he would not have done so if he had seen the minor. He also claimed that if he were allowed to leave he would never violate the law again, telling Chris that this would ruin his life. Maradiage said that he would rather be deported back to Honduras than to go to an American prison. He asked if Chris could help him get immediately deported.
Aftermath
Criminal Sexually Abusive Activity Using a Computer to Commit a Crime Enticing a Child for Immoral Purposes
As of February 20, 2025, Maradiage was in Federal custody on an ICE detainer pending his immigration proceedings. Chris noted that he was facing "swift deportation."
