About

An independent research index connecting documented Chris Hansen investigations to charges, case outcomes, sentences, and original sources.

A program appearance and a criminal conviction are different facts. We research and source them separately. Every published claim should be traceable to the evidence that supports it.

Evidence levels

Court-verified
A linked court record supports the stated legal outcome.
27 profiles
Reported
The claim is attributed to the original publisher or other reporting.
391 profiles
Needs research
The profile contains unresolved legal information.
4 profiles

A sentence is kept in context: imposed time, suspended time, probation, and the relationship between counts matter. A missing record or an unanswered search is not evidence of acquittal or release.

How a record is built

  1. Appearance

    Original publishers establish appearances.

Original episodes, publisher descriptions, transcripts, and attributable retrospectives connect a subject to a documented investigation.

  2. Legal outcome

    Court records establish legal outcomes.

Charging documents, judgments, sentencing orders, and subsequent orders support legal facts. Reputable reporting is explicitly attributed when a court record is not available.

  3. Review

Research becomes a proposal before publication.

A reviewer checks identity, evidence, and meaning before approving a public change.

Coverage and gaps

The index covers reviewed profiles from documented Hansen investigations. It does not currently claim a complete roster across every series or operation. Publisher catalogs and court access vary, and some historical records are unavailable.

A new upload does not necessarily identify a new subject. Compilations, retrospectives, interviews, and reuploads are classified separately. Names alone are not sufficient to link someone to a criminal case.

Unknown fields stay visible. “Outcome unverified” describes a gap in this index, not a person’s legal status.

Keeping records current

Open cases are eligible for regular research. Settled cases leave the weekly queue and can be checked periodically or when new evidence appears. An appeal or amended sentence can still change the record.

Event dates, successful source checks, and profile edits are recorded separately. An inaccessible source is reported as inaccessible; it does not count as a successful check.

Privacy and scope

Stingdex focuses on investigations and court outcomes. Home addresses, phone numbers, family details, current employer tracking, and victim identities are outside the scope of this index.
