Case narrative

Biography

Samuel Queen was once a member of the United States Army. At the time of he sting, Queen had been a correctional officer for eleven years.

Sting

Queen said he was going to leave and refused to sit, but quickly did sit after Chris insisted. Queen stated that this was his first time and knew that what he was doing was wrong.

Queen told Chris that he had been in the hospital all day with his dad who just had heart surgery. Queen did not want to bring the stress of caring for his ailing father home so he decided to have sex with a minor first, thinking that "this would help." He later said that he had an eight-hour shift the next day and didn't want the stress when he went to work. Queen then noticed that the straw in the cup in front of him was a microphone and objected to being recorded. He demanded Chris identify himself. Once Chris said his name, Queen got up to leave but was apprehended by police before he could get to the door. Queen looked into the camera and said, "You just ruined my life over nothing."

Queen blaming Chris Hansen for ruining his life.

Queen was sat back at the table with Chris but requested to talk to police in private instead of with Chris Hansen. He again protested being filmed, but Chris explained the legal doctrine of "reasonable expectation of privacy." Queen said that he did not understand the concept. Queen mentioned to Chris that he was a correctional officer and lamented the loss of his job and his "pretty good life." He said that he was ready to "suck start a shotgun." Concerned, Chris asked him to repeat himself. Queen then misspoke and said that he was ready to "stuck shart a shotgun."

Chris Hansen asked how a corrections officer can get into a situation like this. Queen responded, "Because everybody makes mistake." He said that he did not have an explanation for his actions, just that he wanted to go home. Queen claimed that he had never met anyone online for sex before, including adults and especially not minors.
