Biography
Rolando Restocruz, a thirty-three-year-old Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army. During the Iraq war, he served nine years in the Army and completed two tours in Iraq. Restocruz was married and had a young child, and they lived in Georgia.
Sting
Rolando got to the sting house an hour and a half early after driving four hours there. He showed up with lubricant in tow as well as Trojan condoms, beer, panties, a camisole and a webcam. The decoy signals for him to enter the home. He makes himself at home by pouring himself a drink of iced tea. After that, Chris Hansen appears. At first, Rolando believed the girl to be Chris' daughter and insisted he was "just fooling around." Rolando then drops to his knees and tells Chris that the day before, he had gotten divorced. He acknowledged having three kids, including a stepdaughter who is seventeen-years-old. Rolando argued he wasn't going to do anything and said he would have informed the girl he couldn't do it as Chris reads more from the conversation log. He insisted it was his first time meeting a child for sex before admitting that he had previously watched Dateline NBC. Rolando cries, "Sir, please!" as the cameras come out. He begs Chris not to broadcast it and vows never to do it again. He slowly stands up and leaves the house. He is told to go to the ground by the police as he leaves. As Rolando is taken into custody, he sobs uncontrollably.
Aftermath
Rolando acknowledged carrying everything he had in his truck when questioned by police. Additionally, he acknowledged that he was aware of the girl's age and confessed to all the explicit online comments he made to her. The whole time he spoke to detectives, he was hunched over and spoke in a low, shameful voice. Rolando was then brought before a judge who set his bail.
Rolando was convicted and found guilty of a criminal attempt to commit child molestation and a criminal attempt to commit statutory rape. He was sentenced to ten years in prison with a minimum of five years to serve, 25 years of probation, and was required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. He was paroled and released from prison on April 27, 2011.
Trivia
He was called "Resto the Molesto" by the soldiers in his unit after his arrest.
