Case narrative
Sting
Moore arrived at the sting house the following day. Del Harvey , posing as the teenage boy, talked to Moore from another room. She invited him in and asked if he still wanted to shower together. Moore chuckles and said he was "kinda stinky." Chris Hansen then entered the scene. Moore stated that the child told him he was eighteen and that he had been invited. When Chris told him to tell the truth, Moore hesitated for a moment before responding that he was unaware that the decoy was young. Moore openly stated making a "mistake." He insisted that it was his first time he had met with an underage boy. Moore confessed that he was a stand-in actor and enquired if he was under arrested. He started crying and said it was a "mistake" once more. Moore stated he felt "ashamed" as he cried even more.
Moore claimed that he was going to turn around halfway through his drive but decided to continue since the boy had called and asked where he was. He said he "wasn't thinking right," said he felt "terrible," and reiterated that this was his first encounter with a minor boy. When he got to the house, he claimed he realized he was taking a big risk and felt he shouldn't. He declared that he was scared while crying more. Moore admitted he hadn't worked for two years but was in movies like 13 Days, Godzilla, Pearl Harbor, Never Been Kissed, and Crimson Tide. Moore claimed he would never communicate with a minor again. Finally, Chris snarkily told him he was "about to get another role" and lets him know he's a part of a Dateline investigation to which Peter sobs, saying he made a "huge mistake." He left the house and is arrested by the Riverside Police.
Aftermath
Moore leaving court on February 10, 2006.
After his arrest, Moore was charged with a felony count of attempted lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age, a felony count of attempted harmful matter sent with intent of seduction of a minor, and a felony count of attempted oral copulation with a minor under 14 years of age by force or fear. His bail was set at $50,000. On February 10, 2006, Moore appeared in court for his arraignment. He enlisted the services of attorney Lawrence Longo for his case. Longo was a former Deputy District Attorney who was fired for his handling of the 1992 Assault case involving rap mogul Suge Knight.
Longo had told Moore outside of court that he didn't think he would do any time in jail. On March 5, 2009, Moore was convicted on all three felony charges against him.
2024 update
For Chris Hansen's Predators I've Caught, Chris found a number associated with Moore. Chris called the number and confirmed it was him from the voicemail, but Chris did not hear back from Moore.
