Case narrative
Sting and Aftermath
Westwood crossed state lines to get to a sting house from Ohio to Kentucky. He was immediately taken into custody by the Kentucky Bureau of Investigation after arriving. He began to tensely rub his hand for comfort when the male investigator inquired as to whether he had any pictures of children. When asked if he was going to spend the night, Westwood claimed he wouldn't, as he had a duty to his church and was actively involved in it. Westwood asserts that he had access to a large selection of adult women and never spoken to anyone under twenty years old. Later during the interview, Westwood said he didn't want his sister to know he was a child sex predator and worried he would lose her love and trust.
After his arrest, Westwood was held on $100,000 bond. Westwood was charged in federal court in the Eastern District of Kentucky with a federal felony count of traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct. After his arrest in Kentucky, a search warrant for his home computer was granted. When police looked into it, they discovered child pornography, leading to further charges in Ohio. Westwood was convicted in Ohio on a felony count of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor on December 12, 2007, and was later sentenced to three years in prison. While he was serving his sentence in Ohio, he received an extra 51 months in prison for the federal charge in Kentucky. In addition, he received a 20-year term of supervised release and registration as a sex offender. He is listed as a Sexual Predator in Ohio, meaning he has a high risk of reoffending and is required to update his status with law enforcement every 90 days for the rest of his life.
