Case narrative

Confrontation with Chris Hansen

Warrecker brought lubrication, a vibrator, a video camera, and a horror movie when he arrived at the sting house. When Warrecker arrived at the sting house, he was greeted by an eighteen-year-old actress posing as the thirteen-year-old girl. After some small talk involving punch and handcuffs, Chris Hansen walked in. Still, Warrecker remained calm and continued pouring himself a glass of punch, rather nonchalantly acknowledging the drink with Chris. Warrecker claimed he was only there to "hang out" and knew it was a set-up, saying it was "too convenient" regarding how the decoy spoke and went along with everything he asked her to do. When Hansen questioned Warrecker about the girl's age, he stated that "she said she was thirteen," as if her claim held no merit because it was online. Warrecker then affirmed that he was only there to hang out despite being sixteen years older than the child.

Hansen directly confronted Warrecker on some vulgar things he said to "a thirteen-year-old kid," which Warrecker tried to dispute by arguing that she wasn't thirteen. Warrecker explained his current financial predicament and admitted that it was time to find employment again, stating that he "entertained" himself by taking the "role" when discussing different subjects like rape and his sexual fetishes.

When Hansen pointed out that Warrecker talked about shaving the decoy and tasting her blood after cutting her, Warrecker's only defense was that "people do some things, man," after being asked if he thought such things were normal. When Hansen asked Warrecker if he thought he had a problem talking online, Warrecker agreed and chuckled, admitting it was like "role-playing" to him but seemingly understanding that doing it with a minor was a step too far. However, when asked if he would've gone through with his rape fantasy had an actual child been there and not an adult pretending to be a child, Warrecker seemed hesitant to say yes, pointing out it was only "day one." He admitted that what he had done was in no way how a twenty-nine-year-old man should behave. Eventually, Hansen revealed he was with Dateline NBC, causing the cameras to appear. When Warrecker left the house, he was arrested by the police and taken into custody.

According to Dateline NBC's website, he made the scary movie he brought himself and planned to watch it with the decoy. It is unknown if the tape was in any way pornographic.

Trivia

Warrecker's uncut interview leaked from the MSNBC subscription service still needs to be completed, missing certain parts that were shown in the broadcast version and being edited similarly. The exact order in which the whole conversation took place is still unknown. Warrecker died almost an exact month earlier than another predator, Eric Thornton .
