Matthew Traub

As a child, Traub used to fart a lot, earning him the nickname "Pootie." Traub has previously been arrested for marijuana charges.

Despite the uncertainty of Traub's arrival, he did, in fact, show up several hours later. Traub had to call the decoy because he could not find the right apartment building. Traub arrived holding a bag, which he immediately told the decoy contained marijuana. Traub, visibly nervous as he entered the apartment, asked the decoy to confirm that no one else was there. The decoy and Traub briefly talked about Traub's tattoos and fake diamond earrings. Traub apologized for his distant attitude, citing nervousness.

During the Chris Hansen interview, Traub asserted that his only intention was to "hang out and smoke." Traub acknowledged that the decoy's age was fifteen. Although Traub agreed that meeting a fifteen year old was not what he should have done, and that he originally wanted to have sex with the decoy, Traub claimed that he he changed his mind about having sex and did not want to do that anymore. Traub admitted to having condoms in his car, but claimed that he did not bring them to use with the decoy. Chris doubted that, saying that a person does not bring condoms only to do "balloon tricks."

A search of Traub's toiletry bag uncovered a large amount of Q-tips, leading deputies to question the cleanliness of Traub's ears.
