Aftermath
Nash pleaded no contest to one count of Attempted Lewd or Lascivious Acts with a Child Under 14 Years of Age. Even though he did not get prison time, he was sentenced to lifetime registration as a sex offender and was placed on probation until 2010. The judge who sentenced Nash allegedly observed that he was disturbed by his grooming of the decoy.
All Southern California newspapers covered Nash's arrest. His band would not be aware of his arrest until he was shown on Dateline NBC and was convicted. Buck Down, one of member's of the Mutaytor, stated that Nash no longer had any connection with the band and was "nothing more than a historical link to this project." When Nash was arrested, his bandmates explained that their booking agency summarily fired them and that their gigs were getting canceled. After the sting, Nash posted an apology online. He apologized for "having sex with people he met online" and stated he thought the decoy was twenty-years-old several times.
Trivia
A video has surfaced of an older Nash at a holiday themed dance party with several other people in a very over the top outfit. After she realised he was married and began to see through his dishonest nature, the woman promptly ended the relationship. Nash's risk assessment as a sex offender has not been complete. A video has surfaced in late 2026 of Matthew being approached by a fan on Hollywood Boulevard. Matthew gladly greets him but scurries off when he realizes the fan is playing his segment on his phone in his other hand.
