Case narrative
Biography
Due to the shirt he wore to the sting, he was possibly an ex-employee of O'Reilly Auto parts.
Sting
Joshua Simpson arrived to the sting house after over an hour drive, greeted by the decoy and wearing what appeared to be an O'Reilly's Auto Parts employee t-shirt, and gave her the money that he had promised. Simpson began undressing and asked the decoy if she would also "take something off," but she refused. Simpson then spent about 35 seconds in complete silence slowly taking off his clothes in the kitchen. A thud could be heard, possibly police or the camera crew causing it, which raised Simpson's suspicions, but the decoy attributed it to a smoke detector.
When questioned by Chris about his intentions, Simpson stated that "at first, I didn't really want to come, honestly," due to his nervousness. When asked why he showed up, Simpson stated that he was "feeling desperate, just looking for a girl." Simpson asserted that he believed the decoy was nineteen-years-old, but quickly agreed that he knew the decoy said she was fifteen before denying it and agreeing again.
Chris mentioned when Simpson said he was going to spend the night, but Simpson clarified that "she asked me." He claimed that he did not remember if he said he was going to or not. Chris continued with another quote where Simpson asked, "Okay, your mom won't get mad?" Simpson added the context that he was referring to mom being mad at him staying the night, not referring to being worried about how the mom would feel about him having sex with her fifteen year old daughter.
Simpson told Chris, "I'll never do it again, though. I promise." Chris asked why he should believe that promise, to which Simpson replied, "I feel so bad now." Due to the sting taking place just before Christmas, Chris told Simpson, "Well you're about to get a lump of coal in your stocking." Simpson claimed that if Chris had not been there, he likely would have "backed out" of doing anything. Chris responded, "You'd back out?! Back outta what? Looks like you wanted to back out with the girl onto the couch and have sex. C'mon!"
