Biography
At the time of the sting, Henry had been married for two years and was previously divorced. He was also a drummer for a local garage band and had played music at churches in the past.
According to public records, including hunting and fishing licenses, Henry had previously lived in several towns in Virginia. He also has lived in Kentucky, Tennessee, and various places in Michigan.
Sting
Jordan Henry eventually found the house while still talking to the decoy on the phone. The decoy tried to make an excuse that her phone battery was low so that she could exit the room, but henry started following her and asking if he could walk with her. On the wall were two framed photos of Jerry Hetherington "Glory Hole Jerry," and Donnie Vaughn . Henry briefly looked at the photos while following the decoy but did not seem to recognize them. Chris Hansen came out to prevent Henry from following the decoy into another room. Henry appeared shaken and nervous, prompting Chris to raise his voice to repeatedly tell him to sit down and take his hands out of his pockets.
Henry immediately began discussing, without being asked a question, how he had been married for two years, divorced previously, and liked the thought of having "friendship." He said that his wife was with his newborn daughter at the time he came to meet an underage girl for sex and that he had just got out of band practice. This prompted Chris to ask, "What the hell are you doing prowling around this area at night when it's 14º out and you're supposed to be at band practice, your wife is home with two daughters?!" Henry then mumbled a non-answer while changing the beginning of his sentence multiple times and interspacing it with "I don't know."
Chris asked why Henry had the decoy call him "daddy," but Henry denied making the decoy do that. Instead, he said that he referred to himself as "daddy," with the decoy doing the same thing on her own accord. Henry claimed that when he said he was "looking for a regular," he meant "a regular friend." Chris asked him why he has girl's clothes in his car, and Henry responded that he regularly took clothing from a Goodwill dumpster to give to his wife, due her changing bra size through pregnancy and the expensive nature of bras.
Henry responded that he did not know the term but apologized for using it. Chris asked if it meant having sex without a condom, but Henry stuttered, staying he did not know and asking what his legal rights were at the moment. Henry did not have an answer to Chris asking how old the decoy was. When told fifteen, Henry said that he did not believe that to be the case.
Henry denied ever believing that the decoy was fifteen. Chris told Henry that he did not believe him. Henry asked if Chris would like to call his wife, to which Chris said that he would and asked for her number. Henry offered several more times in the interview for Chris to talk to his wife, but backpedaled each time Chris took him up on his offer. Henry said that he was not scared of his wife finding out about the situation because "she understands."
Chris asked if Henry had ever met a stranger online before, and Henry said that he had because he likes to barter and trade for fishing lures. Chris then said, "It looks like you got caught on a hook tonight." Henry responded, "That was a very good turn of phrase, sir. Actually, very well-placed." Henry told Chris that the sting was very well-orchestrated, but if he were in Chris' position he would change a few things about the operation. He then offered a recommendation about the placement of the cameraman around the hallway corner before giving up with advice and saying that he did not know what else to say.
Henry asked if he and Chris could re-introduce themselves, offering his hand to shake. When told Chris' name, Henry said that he was familiar and had seen the previous shows but that it had been many years since he has. Chris described Henry's way of speaking during the frustrating conversation as "double talk," meaning deliberately unintelligible speech combining nonsense syllables and actual words.
After being placed in handcuffs, police found a D.A.R.E. shirt in Henry's possession. Chris asked him why he had a shirt like that, to which Henry said, "Why don't you?" Chris noted that the shirt was ironic considering that Henry had talked with a teenaged decoy about smoking weed together.
