Chris ultimately points out many logical inconsistencies in Craig's story, such as the fact that he didn't initially bring the guitar pedal into the house, and seemingly wasn't confused when the door was answered by a 15-year-old girl and not "Blake". Craig also attempts to deny that he was ever in the Kroger parking lot before arriving at the sting house, but after being told by Hansen that there are "cameras all over the place" Craig confesses that "he might have went through" the parking lot.

At one point in the ordeal, Craig is called by his girlfriend while Chris has his phone. Chris allows Craig to answer to let her know that he's safe, and he tells her that he was "stopped by a man and three sheriffs so far, I'm confused and I'm getting it sorted out I guess." Craig reaffirms to her that he did not manage to sell the guitar pedal before being directed by an officer to hang up the phone; he tells his girlfriend he loves her and does so. Craig is then placed under arrest and informed that his phone and car will be thoroughly searched, constantly maintaining his innocent, clueless well-to-do demeanor throughout.
