Reviewed sting-related legal outcome. No split-sentence calculation without the original order. Later alleged violations do not alter this historical sentence or establish current custody.
Supervision proceedingUnverified
Community account describes June 5, 2015 arrest for residence restriction violation and imprisonment December 20, 2016 to May 4, 2020. The span is actual reported custody, not a documented imposed sentence; earlier failure-to-register speculation is expressly corrected in the account.

Case narrative
Sting
Daniels traveled four hours to get to the Fortson, Georgia, sting house. He takes a glass of sweet tea once inside the house. Along with his overnight bag, he informs the decoy with pride that he brought her a drink and some Kit Kats. When Chris Hansen welcomes him, Daniels starts getting jittery, inquiring Chris as to whether he is being taped. Chris confirms that he is, to which Daniels replies, "oh cwap" as his speech impediment kicks into high gear, forcing him to make odd head movements.
Daniels acknowledges that when he decided to meet a minor for sex, he was aware that it was a bad idea. When Chris questioned Daniels about why he came to the house if he knew it was such a horrible idea, Daniels said he wasn't sure why. Daniels departs the house only to be arrested and taken into custody by the local police.
Aftermath
She was under the impression that he was going to a gig to build cabinets. The logo on his hat is that of his employer's. Unsurprisingly, he was fired from the company following the episode's airing. Daniels was convicted of criminal attempt to commit child molestation and criminal attempt to commit statutory rape on February 12, 2007. He was sentenced to ten years in prison with a minimum of five years to serve, fifteen years of probation, and lifetime registration as a sex offender.
Daniels' probation came with a variety of distinct conditions, one of which prohibited him from having any contact with minors while working or volunteering. He was not allowed to possess any sexually explicit materials, call 900 sex lines or go to any place that allows access to sexually stimulating material, may not visit any locations where access to sexually explicit material is permitted, may not hitchhike or pick up hitchhikers, cannot consume alcohol or use drug, cannot use the Internet in any way, or rent a Post Office box without the express written consent of his parole officer. He was also required to keep a log of his travels and has to actively participate in a child abuser/sex offender counseling program.
Daniels was released from prison on February 4, 2012. On June 5, 2015, Daniels was once again arrested for what was believed to be failure to register as a sex offender when he moved from Georgia to Alabama. He was sent to the Coastal State Prison on December 20, 2016 and released on May 4, 2020.
2024 update
Daniels got in trouble again for violating his probation for allegedly saving child pornography on his phone. The state is looking to revoke his probation and send him back to prison. His case is still pending as of this moment
Trivia
Daniels' quotes "oh cwap" and "am I gonna be o-rested?" have become some of the most famous amongst the TCaP fandom. He is commonly compared to Elmer Fudd from Looney Tunes.
