Original allegations and later lesser-charge conviction represent charging stages, not three simultaneous sustained counts. Individual disposition orders for original allegations unavailable. Maryland registration described later is not inferred to have been imposed by original sentencing judge. The original arrest report gives a total-crimes figure of three without allocating it to its two offense labels; exact initial quantities remain unknown despite the archive calling them one each.

Case narrative

Sting and Arrest

Upon entering the house, Keister immediately stopped and refused to go any further. Despite Mauro's attempts to persuade him, Keister expressed concern at having come and attempted to leave. He was intercepted by Chris Hansen , who instructed him to take a seat on a stool. Keister agreed and claimed that he had only intended to "hang out" with the girl and that he had been very "hesitant" to come over.

Keister's interview with Hansen was interrupted by the arrival of another child predator, forty-three-year-old Michael Murray , who brought McDonald's into the house but nervously refused to speak with Hansen before promptly leaving. Murray, remaining silent throughout the awkward interaction, was immediately arrested, while Keister expressed his anticipation of being arrested due to his familiarity with the show, trying to ignore the loud authoritative yelling outside. When Hansen revealed the presence of cameras, Keister shook Hansen's hand, chuckling as he said it was nice to meet him. Keister left the house and was subsequently arrested by the police.

Aftermath

Following his arrest, Keister was originally charged with one count of attempted sexual assault, a second-degree felony, and one count of luring, also a second-degree felony. Both charges carried a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. He was sentenced to two days in jail and was not required to be put on probation, register as a sex offender, or pay any fines.

Trivia

This was the second time two suspected predators were in the trap house at the same time, the first being the interview of Safraz Khan and Yazan Asfour . Sebastian Rodriguez 's and Pulkit Mathur 's does not count, as the men accompanying them were never charged. A third predator Sean Lee almost entered the house at the same time as Murray and Keister. Keister now grows his own apples and cherries in high tunnel greenhouses, selling the produce independently.
