Case narrative
Biography
According to Chris Hansen, he was homeless and a plumber's apprentice.
Sting
Salvador agreed to come over anyway, despite his reservations, but could not find the house so the decoy called him to give him directions. While on the phone, Salvador stated that he was nervous and feared that he would "get beat up or shot." Incredibly, Salvador also stated, "I'm just kinda expecting like that guy, that, from Catch a Predator to come outside..." The decoy questioned what "Catch a Predator" was, asking if he was referring to the movie "Alien vs. Predator." Salvador responded, "No. Like, literally this exact scenario I feel like." The decoy told him that she has never heard of the show. Salvador told her that it was a show for a long time, followed by, " Charlie Hansen , that's the guy's name."
Chris Hansen walked out to greet him, with Salvador standing there in shock saying, "brooo." Immediately after sitting down, Salvador pulled his knit cap down over his face to hide it, a "first" for Chris. Salvador noted that he "knew this was going to happen."
Salvador stood up and asked to leave but was told that he could not by Chris. He would remain in this position for the duration of the interview.
Salvador claimed that his intention for showing up was to "talk a girl out of getting off a website. Because the website that she is on, there are a bunch of creepy dudes who... don't want to do this." Chris told him that he looked like one of those creepy dudes. Salvador admitted that he knew it appeared that way, and further admitted that he, at one time, used to make fun of the predators that Chris caught, but asked that if he were to go to prison he should just be arrested at that moment instead of doing the interview because his "life is over now."
Salvador stated that even before getting caught, he was already at the lowest point in his life. Chris asked him what would make it the lowest point, to which Salvador responded that many members of his family have died and that he was "all alone in the world." He also expressed distress over the thought that his "life is over" (a phrase he repeated many times), and that he would be on a sex offender list. However, in what appeared to be a justification, he stated that he had wasted the potential of his life, and that he can convince someone of something easier when he is sitting down next to him or her. He rambled for a little longer before giving up. He then stated that nothing mattered and that the interview did not matter because he would go to prison. When asked what should happen to him, Salvador said, "The maximum punishment. I should go to prison and get raped by a bunch of dudes named Jesus (pronouncing it like the biblical figure, not the Spanish name)."
Salvador told Chris that he was "literally picturing" him before coming over because Chris had "done this for so long." He stated, "I literally was on the phone talking with her and I said that, and then it happened." Genesee County Sheriff Swanson said that Salvador attempted to do "counter-surveillance" to determine if the meet was a police sting operation.
Aftermath
According to the Michigan Department of Corrections website, Salvador was convicted of Child Sexually Abusive Activity and was given five years of supervised probation. His probation is set to be completed on July 10, 2028. He was required to become a registered sex offender.
