Case narrative
Biography
He was originally from Penuelas, Puerto Rico.
Sting
Before Muniz could enter the house, and for the decoy's safety, he was tackled in the driveway by deputies. Deputies found condoms and sexual lubricant in his pockets. A translator was brought in for the Chris Hansen interview due to Muniz not being able to speak English well.
He claimed that the decoy was actually twenty-one, not thirteen. Muniz claimed that he was just "following the game" and following his "horny instincts."
Aftermath
Using a Two-Way Communication Device to Commit a Felony Lewd or Lascivious Battery to a Minor Traveling to Meet After Using a Computer to Lure a Child Transmitting of Material Harmful to a Minor
As part of a plea agreement, Muniz pled no contest to Traveling to Meet After Using a Computer to Lure a Child and Attempted Lewd or Lascivious Battery to a Minor, in exchange for the other charges being dismissed. He was sentenced to five years in prison with credit for four days. After his release, he will be on probation for an additional five years. It is unclear from public court documents if he will be required to register as a sex offender upon release. He is scheduled to be released on November 7, 2029.
