Biography
Inderjeet Singh was born in Punjab, India. He was religous, devouted toward Sihksm.
Sting
Chris Hansen greeted Singh as soon as he entered the house through the curtains. Singh responded that his name was Andy when questioned about it, immediately asking whether he was being "framed." He stated that he merely stopped by to see a movie and lying when asked the decoy's age, claiming that she had informed him she was thirteen. Singh insisted she was thirteen because her profile stated that age. He claimed that although they had discussed having sex, they ultimately opted to meet up only to watch a movie or play video games. He continued by inquiring if Chris was a police officer. Singh then attempted to outsmart Chris, saying that he can coerce minors all that he wants, but can't be punished unless he's caught in the act of having sex with one.
Chris questioned him on this statement, but Singh doubled down, stating that he was completely safe from the law because he wasn't caught having sex with a child. It's at this point where Chris asks Singh if he is a lawyer, to which Singh responded with, "I'm not a lawyer. I'm basically into academics." Chris followed up by debunking Singh's assumption, informing him that many laws had already been broken. Singh played dumb, claiming that he had no idea grooming an underaged child was against the law. He was told by Chris that he could leave, so Singh stood up, thanked Chris and left the sting house.
Aftermath
Singh was originally charged with three felonies: attempted lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age, attempted oral copulation with a minor under 14 years of age and more than a 10 year age difference between victim and offender, and attempted forcible sexual penetration with a foreign object. His bail was set at $50,000. A jury found Singh guilty on a felony count of attempted lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age while the other two charges were dropped.
In 2011, Singh filed an appeal, arguing that the evidence was inadequate to convict him since other logical inferences about his intent about the evidence may be drawn. Additionally, he argued that the requirements that he register as a sex offender violated his right to equal protection because there was no justification for individuals who had been convicted of other felonious sex offenses to be exempt from the requirement to register. According to the court, Singh's right to equal protection under the law was not violated by the ruling ordering him to register as a sex offender. They also rejected his argument that the evidence against him was insufficient to condemn him and upheld the verdict.
Singh was still in the United States as late as 2019 according to a blog post; his Megan's Law page was abruptly taken down after he was deported, although it is unclear if this was in relation to his conviction.
Trivia
He shares a first and last name with Inderjeet Singh , a gold medalist shot-put athlete from Punjab, India. Born in 1988, he has won two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze, with a personal best throw of 20.63 meters. He appeared at the house wearing a black pagri on his head, a type of traditional headwear commonly worn by people from the Indian subcontinent. At one point during the interview with Chris, Singh seems to look directly at one of Dateline's hidden cameras but does not see it. While a fan-made edit utilising Singh's televised segment and Predator Raw footage exists to create a partially uncut interview, Singh's full uncut interview may have never been released, as no dead MSNBC page or text internet archive exist to prove it.
