Case narrative
Sting and Arrest
Once the decoy waved him down, Greg could hardly contain his excitement. He ran towards the decoy like a joyful puppy chases a bird. He sat down on the chair and Casey started asking him questions. She asked Greg if he brought the pizza and condoms, to which he confirmed he did. He left the pizza in his car, but the condoms were in his pocket. Once Chris arrived, Greg's shell began to crack. When Chris asked what was happening, Greg's voice broke as he responded, "Just... getting ready to go." He lied about his age, stating he was 35, but eventually gave in and admitted everything. As a last ditch attempt to escape, he offered the pizza to Chris in exchange for his freedom. Needless to say, his offer was declined.
The police eventually burst onto the scene and made the arrest, handcuffing Greg while he was face-down in the sand. While the police escorted Greg away, they asked him if he has anything on him. Greg sheepishly responded with, "What, drugs?"
Aftermath
Stewart eventually pled guilty to one count of attempted endangering the welfare of a child, he was sentenced to a lifetime of parole and sex offender registration.
2023 update
In Chris Hansen's "Predators I've Caught" podcast, it was revealed that Chris had reached out to Gregory and the two had a decently-long conversation. One day, Chris called Gregory but got no response, so he left a message. The following day, Greg actually called Chris back.
Chris asked Greg if he would be willing to sit down for a future interview he could feature on the podcast, bringing up the fact that Greg has stayed clean since his appearance on Dateline in March 2007. He also mentioned how a possible interview could be vital in preventing a future predator from committing the same crime that Gregory had all those years ago. All of this seemed to resonate with Greg, and he promised Chris that he would consider his offer for an interview and that he would get back to him soon.
Trivia
Greg's all-denim outfit is commonly known as a "Canadian tuxedo" The pizza that Gregory brought was supreme with pineapple. This makes Gregory the first of two predators to bring a pizza to the sting, the second being Jeff Sokol . He is also the first predator to offer Chris the pizza, although Chris forgot about Greg's kind gesture.
