Garson Lopez

Garson Lopez is originally from Guatemala.

Henry arrived to the sting house first, followed by Garson. He and the decoys stood awkwardly in the kitchen of the sting house because they were not able to communicate well. Garson called for Henry to step out of the house, which he did. After asking if two men were acceptable to the decoys, Henry and Garson left toward their car. Deputies then took them into custody.

During the interview with Chris, the language barrier was a source of constant frustration. Sheriff Mark Moon enlisted the help of one his sergeants, via telephone, to translate for the interview. Without being questioned about the decoy's age, Garson offered the explanation that they were aware of what the decoy said her age was, but showed up with the understanding that she was actually not a minor. Following this, Garson admitted to knowing the decoy's age, but claimed that he was simply thinking with the wrong head. Garson apologized, asked for forgiveness, and assured Chris that it would not happen again.

Garson claimed that Henry did not want to have sex with either decoy. Chris did not believe the claims and told the translator to tell the Lopezes that he thought they were lying. Garson responded that he went to church so it was not possible for him to lie. Garson then claimed that his only intention was to have sex with the aunt, not the minor niece. The translator described Garson's explanations as "rambling." Both Garson and Henry would not give a direct answer when Chris asked what should happen to them, instead choosing to talk about their clean records. Garson and Henry expressed fear about being deported to Guatemala and being labelled child sex predators. They apologized for their actions, but defended it by saying they never actually went through with it, on account of being caught. When Chris asserted this fact, Garson and Henry insisted that they did not do anything wrong and that the entire thing was a misunderstanding.

During a search of Garson and Henry's persons, deputies found condoms and over $1,500. Garson Lopez was charged with:

Traveling to Meet a Child to Perform a Sexual Act Child Solicitation by Computer to Entice a Child for Immoral Purposes Human Trafficking

He pleaded guilty to one of the charges and was sentenced to three years in prison. He is scheduled to be released in July 2027, after which he will be deported from the United States.
