Case narrative

Biography

Fernandez was a recent immigrant from Nicaragua.

Sting

As expected, Fernandez walked into the sting house; in place of an actual child, Chris Hansen greeted him and asked how he was. Fredi said, "All right," became spooked, and dashed out of the sting house. As he continued to run, he was stopped by Fort Myers police officers and tackled to the ground. He can be heard saying, "What happened, what happened?" simultaneously.

Aftermath

Fernandez was found guilty of a felony count of using the internet to attempt to solicit a child for sex/lewdness. He was sentenced to nine months in jail, three years of probation, and lifetime registration as a sex offender. Fernandez would later be deported from the United States back to Nicaragua.
