Case narrative

Sting

Lee arrived to the sting house and was greeted by the two decoys at the door. After they exited, Lee said to himself, "Oh, I forgot the condoms in the car." Chris Hansen then emerged to confront him. Lee told Chris that his plan for the night was "just to have a little fun." Lee admitted that "fun" could include sex and further admitted that he knew the decoy was fifteen years old. When asked if it turned him on that there was a fifteen-year-old girl, Lee responded, "Yeah, it kinda did." Lee told Chris that he understood if charges needed to be pressed against him, so long as he made it out safe from the house.

Although he said that he did not know what he would have done had it not been a sting, Lee admitted that the plan was to have sex with the girl. He brought the promised marijuana (7 grams), condoms, and $200. After further questioning from Chris, Lee asked if he was safe because he felt scared, noting that he "love[s] [his] life." When Chris said his name and deputies came out, Lee jumped from his seat, frightened, and immediately dropped to the floor, repeating "please don't kill me" to the approaching officers. He then objected to the cameras filming him.

Despite saying that he only brought seven grams of marijuana no weapon, a search of his vehicle uncovered significantly more marijuana (approximately 1 kilo) and a handgun.
