Reviewed sting-related legal outcome. Reviewed all3pages of DOC violation report ea25146f11, case06-CF-016098, including signed original-sentence history onp2. It establishes nine months plus three years and original sentencing date. Agency report filed with clerk is not itself the sentencing judgment. Later absconding allegation is not a new imposed sentence; current whereabouts speculation excluded. Archived narrative says two solicitation convictions, while original arrest packet names one solicitation and one attempted-contact allegation. The latter disposition is unknown; two is retained only as an expressly reported conviction quantity, not a primary-record finding.

Case narrative

Sting

Elias drove two and a half hours to the sting house with a rose, alcohol, and condoms. When he entered the sting house, Elias asked the decoy if she could come out. He starts to put his stuff away, as Chris Hansen approaches him. When questioned about his intentions about having sex with the girl, Elias stated he was married and that his wife would never let him have fun. When Chris asked him what his wife would think if she found out he was going to rape a 14 year old girl, he claimed his wife would divorce him and that his father-in-law's ten brothers would try to kill him. He also admits to seeing men on the news getting arrested for trying to meet children for sex. After Chris revealed that he was with Dateline NBC, and cameramen surrounded Elias, Elias stated he was a "good guy" and "made a mistake." He was arrested by police after leaving the sting house.

Aftermath

In 2006, Elias plead guilty to two felony counts of Use Internet to solicit/attempt solicit a child for sex/lewdness. He was sentenced to 9 months in jail, register as a sex offender for life, take mandatory sexual offender counseling, and placed on probation until 2010. After Elias registered as a sex offender, he fled the United States to Ecuador, although according to The Skip Tracer, he may be back in the United States undetected by U.S. authorities.
