Case narrative

Sting

Cooley arrived at the house and was immediately arrested by deputies. While being handcuffed, Cooley stated, "I'm done for." While being searched, Cooley repeatedly kept telling himself, "I'm so dumb." He was first interrogated by deputies before Chris Hansen could conduct his interview. He refused to do "this part" (referring to the Chris Hansen interview). Chris mentioned the irony of Cooley wearing a D.A.R.E. sweater when he arrived to the sting house. Cooley stated that "the D.A.R.E. Program failed."

Aftermath

Human Trafficking (F1) Traveling to meet a minor for sex (F2) Use of computer to solicit guardian of child for sex (F3) Use of two-way communication device to commit a felony (F3)

Cooley was eventually convicted of Human Trafficking and Traveling to Meet a Minor for Sex. He was sentenced to ten years in prison followed by an additional ten years of probation. Cooley is now a registered sex offender. His expected release date is July 18, 2033.
