Case narrative

Aftermath

In 2009, during his criminal proceedings, Bist was rearrested on an unspecified misdemeanor charge and later posted bond. He was eventually sentenced to twenty-one months in jail on the Flagler Beach sting charges, but he appealed the decision. Since he was an immigrant at the time of the sting, his case was referred to the U.S. Immigrations Service, so it became a federal case which was taken over by the Supreme Court of Florida. By the time his last appeal was denied, Deepak had gone on the run rather than surrender himself to authorities. He is thought to have returned to Nepal.

Trivia

Deepak bears a striking resemblance to Vaikunth Soundarajan , a suspected predator exposed in the Petaluma, California sting.
