Reviewed sting-related legal outcome. Split prison language preserved exactly; do not add ten years plus six or infer an explicit suspended component. Earlier encounter allegations excluded.

Case narrative
Biography
Before the sting, David had a sexual encounter with a real girl who was fifteen. According to the unnamed girl, David talked sexually with the girl and allegedly met up with her, but it is unknown if they had any sexual contact. The cops warned David not to do it again and the girl decided not to press charges.
David was a thirty-eight-year-old tunnel maker at the time of the sting.
Sting
David, with alcohol in tow, pulled up to the trap house in his truck being waved in by the decoy. When the decoy said she made sweet tea for him, he shouted, "I don't want tea! I want lovin!" Instead, he got to meet Chris Hansen . Chris also goes over his own admission of being with another underage girl after he tries saying this was the first time he had tried anything with a young girl. When asked if there a any girls his age he could meet, Hilbish says he has a fiancé. When told he was going to be on Dateline, he expresses passive aggressive outrage, saying he doesn’t know how they have legally been able to do the stings, but Chris tells him they can and that’s a good enough explanation for Hilbish as he replies, “Okay.” Hilbish makes one last plea on his character, saying he’s a single father who was lonely and tempted, despite telling Chris not two minutes earlier that he had a fiancé. He then leaves the house where he is arrested by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office without incident.
Hilbish would plead guilty to Attempted Child Molestation and Attempted Enticement of a Minor for Illegal Purposes. He was sentenced to ten years in prison with six years to serve, ten years of probation, sex offender counseling, and lifetime registration as a sex offender.
