Case narrative

Biography

More specifically, he was a car buyer and seller who collected money for sold cars and flipped money off them. Haas was forty.

Sting

Haas entered the house in Bethpage, Long Island, New York. But instead of being greeted by a real child, he was greeted by Chris Hansen. Haas, seeming nervous, was asked to take a seat. Haas asked Hansen if he was going to jail, and Hansen (the first investigation without direct police involvement) said no.

He then asked Haas if he had done this before. Haas then told Hansen he did not know what he was thinking.

When Hansen reveals who he is (this is lost footage not seen in the episode but confirmed in the post-production commentary), Craig leaves the seat, puts on his hat, and says, "You can't put me on TV," as he walked out the door of the sting house. With no police involvement, Haas walked away free.

Aftermath

Haas, like most of the other Bethpage predators, was never charged with a crime. He continued working for the automobile business but now works independently.
