Case narrative

Biography

Brian initially lived in New Jersey growing up. When he was a juvenile, he was arrested for trespassing. When he was a teenager, he was arrested for Marijuana Pipes. Brian was twenty-five and unemployed at the time of the sting. He was married and had a one-month-old kid and a four-year-old stepson. He now lived in Jacksonville, Florida.

Sting

He drove his father-in-law's car to the sting house and was greeted by the decoy . They have minimal small talk, and Brian seems to know something is up because as soon as the decoy turns to go to the back, he heads for the door, never getting the chance to see or talk to Chris Hansen, who was calling after him. He flees and is immediately arrested by the police. When questioned by cops, he admits he had two small children at home and one on the way.

Police Interview

He was handcuffed and brought to the police station, where the detective questioned him. Brian began worrying about his father-in-law's car. He also claimed he was going to pass out during the interview, so the cops gave him water and let him take off his sweatshirt. Brian said he was not going to have sex with the decoy. He then began to fidget and make the detectives nervous. The detectives asked Brian what they would find after they checked his computer, and he said nothing. He then asked if his family would find out about this, and they said probably.

Aftermath

Brian pleaded guilty to Using the Internet to solicit/attempt to solicit, etc., a child for sex/lewdness and Lewd or lascivious conduct victim under 16 years old by an offender 18 years or older. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, a lifetime registry as a sex offender, paid fees, and was required to take some sex offender counseling. He was sentanced to prison.

He was released in 2009 , but during his time he got introuble for assaulting another inmmate.

2024 update

In 2024, in a Predator I've Caught podcast, Chris mentioned more details about his Xbox arrest, including he had more emails found not associated with his RSO.

Chris found a number associated with Brian and attempted to reach him on a podcast, but he did not pick up. However, unlike most predators who cursed out, insulted Hansen, or just hung up, he called back and talked to Hansen for almost five minutes. Hansen began the conversation regarding how his life has been going since the sting, and he said, " My life is fine . Brian was then asked what he could say to other men thinking about what he did in 2007, and Brian said not to do it. It's a mistake. Chris then thanked Brian for taking time of his day to talk and ended the call.
