Case narrative
Sting and Arrest
Brian travels two and a half hours to reach the sting house. Del Harvey , who is pretending to be the teenage girl, offers Brian some sweet tea when he gets to the house, but Brian declines, saying he drank something on the drive. Then Chris Hansen comes in and tells Brian to sit down. When asked what he was doing tonight, Brian replied that he was "just driving around" and claims he needed directions after spending two years in the air force away from Georgia. After that, Chris reads from his conversation log.
As an adult man, Brian claims he was aware that having sex with a minor is "jailbait," so he decided against having any sexual activity with the child. He asserts he wants to be friends and go bowling with her. Brian maintains once more that he went to the sting house to hang out, talk, and go bowling rather than to have sex with the girl. Brian responds that he should just be able to go home and "take it as a lesson learned" when Chris wonders what should happen to him. Unfortunately for Brian, this wasn't the case because he was arrested after leaving the house.
Aftermath
In February 2007, Brian was tried and convicted on criminal attempt to commit child molestation and criminal attempt to commit statutory rape, both felonies. He was sentenced to ten years in prison with a minimum of five years to serve, fifteen years of probation, and lifetime registration as a sex offender. He was paroled and released from prison on January 13, 2010 after serving less than three years.
2024 update
Hansen did an episode on Brian for his Predators I've Caught podcast. He remarked how, given Brian had been in the military, he could've gotten a great job and built a successful career had he not made the decision to visit a fifteen-year-old girl home alone with sexual intentions.
2022 update
According to a report made on April 29th, Brian was one of several people whose personal storage locker was put up for auction due to non-payment; his items included a chair, couch, dresser, mattress, television, dryer, boxes, clothes, and totes. The auction took place on May 18th in Griffin County.
