Court first-appearance order and police arrest form establish docket and two allegations. Dismissal remains community-reported, not established by those preliminary documents. Thirty-seven days of pretrial detention is not an imposed sentence. The archived police narrative describes a recorded post-Miranda interview. This conflicts with the wiki trivia claim that he refused to speak to police; the original narrative is retained as stronger evidence on that narrow point.

Case narrative

Sting

Immediately after arriving at the sting house, Brian scoped the place out and engaged in a light banter with Emily . It is a bit difficult to hear over Chris Hansen narrating, but when Gosselin first arrived at the house, he can faintly be heard whining about a wheelbarrow being in the way of the door. He claimed he brought wine coolers with him, commented on the size of the house, and asked if the decoy was an only child, which commenters pointed out as concerning. Emily then asked if Brian brought any protection, to which he responded with, "Yeeeeaaahhhhhhhhhhh." It was at that point Chris Hansen entered, claiming that Brian wouldn't be needing that type of protection that night. Immediately upon Hansen's entrance, Brian said, "I knew this was gonna be a set-up." Hansen replied, "You knew, huh? He walked away immediately, refusing to do an interview and stating, "I'm not wanted here." He left the house and was arrested outside.

Brian was, however, bound over in jail for thirty-seven days as his case made its way through the legal system.

Trivia

Readings of it can still be found on YouTube. Despite Gosselin's charges being dropped due to Perverted Justice's destruction of evidence, Chris Hansen maintains on his podcast dismissively that he was released due to a "technicality", similar to what he said about Michael Wilusz . According to Chris, Brian changed his name to Brian King and relocated to Quebec, Canada. It is possible he divides his time between Quebec and Florida, although this is unconfirmed. Perhaps the only smart thing Brian did during the sting, he refused to speak to police officers when brought in for interrogation. Footage of him being arrested on the show has never been seen either.
