Case narrative
Sting
When Anthony arrives at the sting house, a male decoy, pretending to be the fourteen-year-old boy lets him in. The decoy lead Anthony to a bar and asked him if he wanted anything to drink. After Anthony declines, Chris Hansen appears and calls him a "fast mover." He orders him to sit on the stool. When asked what his plans were, Anthony claimed he was "just gonna talk to the kid" about baseball and football. Chris pointed out that he seemed too nervous for a person who was going to go over and talk about sports. Anthony admits he knew the boy was fourteen but continued to claim that he was just to going "hang out" and not do anything with the child. Anthony asserted that he would have been too "scared" to have engaged in sex with the boy when Chris questioned him about it. Later, Chris makes his identity known, which prompts several cameramen to emerge. When Chris questions Anthony, he acknowledges that he has seen To Catch a Predator before. Anthony offers his apologies before leaving the residence. The Flagler Beach police quickly arrest him. When police searched his car, they found condoms and marijuana.
Police interview
Anthony acknowledged his bipolar disorder and that he was taking medication when he was questioned by detectives. He acknowledged that he was arrested for theft when he was eighteen-years-old. When questioned if he would have had sex with the boy, Anthony responded that he would have had intercourse. Later, he stated that he "was really turned on" and unsure of what to do.
Aftermath
Anthony ended up pleading guilty to use Internet to attempt to solicit a child for sex/lewdness and attempted lewd and lascivious battery with victim 12-15 years old, both felonies. He was sentenced to seventeen months in prison, eights years of sex offender probation, and was required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. After his release, Anthony tried to look for work using the job finding site hireexfelon.com. It is unknown if he obtained gainful employment from the site.
